Organisation Structure of the Freight Branch

Branch Transport Logistics and Corridor Development  

Purpose:   

• To accelerate the development and implementation of a streamlined freight logistics system for South Africa.    

Main Focus Areas  

•             Develop a National Freight logistics strategy.  

•             Develop an Eastern Freight corridor.  

•             Develop a Western Freight corridor.  

The Branch consists of three Chief Directorates:  

•             Chief Directorate: National Strategy  

•             Chief Directorate Eastern Corridor  

•             Chief Directorate Western Corridor  

Chief Directorate: National Strategy  

• Purpose: To develop a National Freight logistics strategy.    

Functions  

•             Integrate strategy initiatives across Government and private sector.  

•             Develop an Industry Strategy.  

Chief Directorate Eastern Corridor  

• Purpose: To develop an Eastern Freight corridor.    

•             Manage Logistics infrastructure planning and implementation.  

•             Integrate Logistics initiatives.  

Chief Directorate Western Corridor  

• Purpose: To develop a Western Freight corridor.    

•             Manage Logistics infrastructure planning and implementation.  

•             Integrate Logistics initiatives.
